ETHICAL-LEGAL ISSUES AS AN ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE The first passage aptly addresses the understanding of how practicing nurses can advocatefor policy change to the system he/she works in. Today’s practicing nurse has numerous challenges in finding a position that they will be most effective in the orchestration of changes to policy in their workplace and the community (Icheku, 2011). It is possible for modern practicing nurses to make a difference in their society and its health care system by being a part of the policy making process.

As the writer alludes, it is essential for practicing nurses to recognize that they should expose themselves to opportunities that allow them to take part in policymaking, as well as to influence changes that will improve the country’s healthcare system (Kjervik & Brous, 2010). ReferencesIcheku, Vincent . (2011). Understanding Ethics and Ethical Decision-Making. Bloomington: Xlibris Corporation. Kjervik, Diane K & Brous, Edith Ann . (2010). Law and ethics for advanced practice nursing. New York : Springer.

In the second passage, the writer is equally up to the task of briefly discussing the influence that a nurse has in outcomes in healthcare using ethical models and frameworks in solving ethical and moral dilemmas. With regards to the role of ethics, many nurses are faced with practice dilemmas when it comes to situations that involve individual care for the patient (Jansen & Zwygart-Stauffacher, 2010). The writer, however, should have gone further to mention the manner in which ethical justice principles should guide equal and fair treatment for all patients and how nurses have to deal with the consequences that arise due to a limitation in societal and organizational financial resources (Grace, 2009).

As aptly covered by the writer, the skills and knowledge of a nurse are essential factors that contribute to a practicing nurse’s ability to influence patient care in a way that is ethical.ReferencesGrace, Pamela. (2009). Nursing ethics and professional responsibility in advanced practice. Boston : Jones and Bartlett Publishers. Jansen, Michaelene. & Zwygart-Stauffacher, Mary. (2010). Advanced practice nursing : core concepts for professional role development. New York: Springer.
